‘Son of a Tutu’ is an award winning actor (Iris Prize 2023), award-winning drag artist, activist, and speaker.

 

The 2011 winner of ‘Drag Idol UK’ since which they have performed/spoken across the UK and Europe in various cabaret venues and settings, films, pantos, at festivals (Pride and others) and, for small, medium, and multinational corporations. They have also appeared at Edinburgh Fringe Festival and hosted online events for Amnesty International, ParaPride as well as hosting Bingo on Victoria Beckham’s Instagram account.
 

As featured on ‘BBC stories’ Tutu was the face of Primark’s national Pride campaign (2019). 

 

They also conceived and directed the #YouCanDoBetter (microaggressions) viral video in the wake of the Black Lives Matter uprisings of 2020 and, were featured as one of the subjects in Dan Jones’s book ‘50 Drag Queens Who Changed the World’.

 

Tutu appeared in the “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie” movie, and “Lemon” (All4). They have also featured in a variety of art performances, installations and exhibitions in prestigious venues around the country.

Jon Clemens-Mann (he/him/his)

Executive Producer

 

Jon’s experience as a producer spans 15 years in television, where he has developed and produced a huge range of unscripted programmes for British and American networks. 

 

After completing his masters in Broadcast Journalism at the University of Sheffield, he joined Channel 4 as a production trainee before working his way up to development executive for several independent production companies.

 

His broadcast credits span popular factual to specialist factual programming, including Location, Location, Location, A Very British Hotel, and Elephant Hospital, as well as the reboot of Cash in the Attic with the legendary Chris Kamara.

 

After a career in television, he’s moving into podcasting to tantalise our eardrums with bold and audacious audio programming. Passionate about Queer history, this is a huge passion project that he can’t wait to share with all of you.

Dane McDonald (he/they/them)

Dane McDonald is a passionate LGBTQIA+ rights activist and storyteller with a deep commitment to justice, empathy, and amplifying queer voices. 

 

As a gay man, he brings a lived understanding and liberal perspective to his work, with a particular focus on uncovering the extraordinary in everyday lives.

 

Dane spent over 15 years in factual television, including 7 years as a director, where he developed a sharp eye for real-life storytelling and working authentically with real people.

Since leaving TV in 2021, he’s transitioned into hospitality management and, in 2025, began training in hypnotherapy and psychotherapy—further deepening his understanding of human connection.

 

With a warm, approachable presence and a natural ability to connect, Dane has a knack for building trust and drawing out compelling stories. 

His podcasting work reflects his lifelong passion: exploring identity, humanity, and the power of personal truth.
